Chances are you are here because you uninstalled a Symantec program such as Norton Antivirus, yet, every time you start your computer you get a message from SARC intelligent updater asking if you want to update the virus definitions, even though, duh! there is no such antivirus installed...
I went around looking and had a hard time finding what I needed, so all you should need is the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec themselves:
You can go to symantec.com and search for Norton removal tool and follow the instructions that match your system, or if you have a 2003 product with windows XP you can download it here: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&selected_nav=&pvid=&docurl=20080710132259EN
